Robo Workshop Summer 2013!
Posted by Lloyd MitchellOur annual summer Robo Workshop continued at Unquowa. Participants entering grades 5 and 6 were introduced to robotics using Lego Mindstorms programming. Each day began with a free-build period where creativity was sparked. Each student was asked to create a design build and to use their imagination. Each day, a new focus was added, allowing the students to customize their design with newly learned concepts. By the end of the week, free-build developed into an experimental period where some trial and error was conducted to get the design to work. A majority of the half day session was devoted to programming, using a basic bot to do various commands and sensors to mimic robotic actions. At the end of the week, the students were broken up into groups and worked with a special mindstorms project with the assistance of our junior counselors. The Robo Workshop was once again a huge success, and we hope to see more students joining us next summer in creating the next great robo-creation.
