Food to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month!
Posted by Rebeca EspinosaHispanic Heritage Month takes place from September 15 until October 15. Hispanics and Latinos have a rich and diverse cultural legacy. Along with a common language heritage, they’ve developed their own remarkable blends of music, dance, art, cultural traditions and FOOD!! Cooking and sharing authentic ethnic dishes and meals with family and friends is one way that people celebrate the month. So, 7th graders developed their own research about the most popular dishes in some Spanish speaking cultures.
Students presented the most typical dishes from Cuba, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Guinea Ecuatorial, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Chile, Spain, Colombia and Guatemala. “Arroz con pollo” is a popular dish in many Latin American countries especially in Costa Rica. Every Puerto Rican family knows how Arroz con Gandules tastes. Everybody likes desserts!! Spain is famous for its Churros, Puerto Rico for the Flan de Queso and many countries for the Arroz con Leche. No matter where you came from or what country’s food you’ve been dying to taste, there’s a dish for everyone! Students had the opportunity to taste the Guacamole made by Aidan, it was delicious!!
